Chopra Wins Connolly Straw Poll

FAIRFAX, VA - Aneesh Chopra, candidate for Virginia Lieutenant Governor, decisively won the straw poll hosted Sunday night by Congressman Gerry Connolly. The straw poll took place at the Kena Temple in Fairfax during Congressman Connolly's annual St. Patrick's Day celebration. More than 850 people voted in the straw poll, with Chopra winning 70% of the vote.

Chopra credited his win to the grassroots energy powering his campaign. "This victory was possible because of the power of our grassroots network. Hundreds of folks from across the area turned out tonight because they are energized for this campaign and for Democratic victories in 2013. I am humbled by the support I have received, and am honored to continue the fight for smarter, fairer government."

The Connolly straw poll victory was Chopra's second straw poll win, having previously won the Mount Vernon Democratic Committee's straw poll last month.
